I love this concept--Displacement Premium. Not sure I've ever thought of it that way, so thank you for this very helpful context and specific scripts to use when at the negotiating table. On this topic, do you have recommendations for those of us who are willing to relocate and don't want to be weeded out of good opportunities by companies who see that you currently reside in a different area. In other words, how do you ensure you're "hat in the ring" so to speak for a role outside of your area without the cost of relocation potentially filtering you out of the running (due to your location).

This all needs to be addressed in your narrative when speaking with companies or while networking. Especially if it’s “already an area you’re trying to move to” — the misalignment on cold applications won’t help. Must be communicated live.

In-office for the win. Can’t replicate the conversations at someone’s desk or in the break room. It’s faster. It’s better. And it removes so much red tape that develops when you’re remote and half your day is writing status updates on Slack and booking meetings to “touch base”. When you’re in the office all that happens organically.
